Liposuction |, , ,

Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure performed by our qualified and experienced surgeon to eliminate unwanted body fat. This procedure is said to have been started in France around 1979 and was introduced to the US in 1982, becoming one of the most commonly done cosmetic surgery procedures.

There are so many wonderful things liposuction can do! The purpose of this treatment is to change the shape of the body and improve how it looks by removing fat.

Liposuction a convenient and fairly simple treatment which is popular with men and women.

Which Areas Can I Treat?

The most popular areas to have liposuction are those such as the hips, upper and lower arms, upper and lower abdomen, buttocks, inner and outer thighs, lower legs and of course the ‘love handles’ that most of us have.

These areas are often suitable for treatment as the stubborn fat deposits can be extremely hard to get rid of, even with a healthy regimen of diet and exercise.

Women who have had children know all too well how the body changes and how hard it is to regain their figure after childbirth.

Am I a good candidate for Liposuction?

Liposuction is not a procedure for obese people, but you should be able to do it if you meet the following criteria:

  • Be of average or only slightly above-average weight
  • Have firm, elastic skin
  • Be in good overall health
  • Be within 30% of your ideal body weight
  • Be a non-smoker
  • Have concentrated pockets of fat that do not respond well to diet and exercise

How does Liposuction work?

During the liposuction procedure, body fat is removed by first inserting a small, hollow tube called a cannula through one or more tiny incisions near the area to be suctioned.

Incisions are usually extremely small, less than one-quarter inch in length and are made in places where they will be least noticeable such as within the skin folds or contour lines.

The cannula is connected through a tube to a vacuum pressure unit. Guided by our registered plastic surgeon, the suction device then vacuums away your unwanted fat.

What should I expect after liposuction?

You will go home the same day. Bruising, swelling and soreness are totally normal after treatment. In some cases, this could last several weeks and final results will be seen once this goes down. However, you can go about a normal daily routine just a few days after liposuction treatment.

I am seriously considering Liposuction. What’s the next step?
