Femto-LASIK Laser Eye Surgery in Lima Lloyd Hannis|english speaking opthalmologist lima peru, femto-lasik lima peru, lasik lima peru, Lima, Peru
Femto-LASIK, or femtosecond laser eye surgery in Lima, Peru, is an ultra-fast, ultra-safe laser that is used to create a thin flap in the cornea, the clear front surface of the eye.
Femto-LASIK is also known as femtosecond LASIK or simply ‘FS Laser’.
It is an infrared laser with a wavelength of 1053nm. The laser works by producing photo-disruption (or photoionization) of the optically transparent tissue such as the cornea.
What is the Benefit of Femto-LASIK?
Traditional LASIK surgery uses a blade to create a flap, while ultra-modern Femto-LASIK uses a femtosecond laser for doing so. This is done by the laser beam discharging its energy at an exactly defined depth of the cornea.
This is a bladeless technique of performing corrective LASIK eye surgery.
Because it is bladeless, this also means it is a safer, more predictable, and a much more accurate treatment than traditional LASIK. The cornea is never damaged and no blade is required.
At our clinic in Lima, Peru, we offer Femto-LASIK treatments which take about fifteen minutes to perform and therefore restoring crystal clear vision to our patients in a very short time frame.
What Steps Are Involved in Femto-LASIK?
The clinic has a special set-up of highly qualified assistants who help guide you in this process.
Our optometrist is the medical professional who sees you first and takes all the necessary tests and eye exams. This preparation is important to program the vision correction treatment with the correct parameters.
Finally, Dr Alejandro Villalobos is our English-speaking specialist Femto-LASIK doctor with 20 years of experience who will perform your eye correction surgery.
We also offer the lower-cost option of traditional LASIK eye correction treatment in the same clinic.
How Long Does it Take?
The whole process can be completed in as little as 48 hours and in just two visits.
- First visit: consultation, exams, and tests.
- Second visit: treatment.
We recommend that our patients who do not live in Lima stay a minimum time period of 7 – 8 days to allow time for follow-up appointments and to monitor healing.
Does it hurt?
Before your Femto-LASIK eye surgery begins, numbing eye drops are used to alleviate any discomfort to the eye during the procedure. The process itself does not hurt; however, you may feel some pressure on your eyes which is totally normal.
