FERTILITY TREATMENT
Main treatments offered:
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
This procedure is carried out when a woman is at peak fertility. A semen sample is inserted into the uterus using a catheter. There are two types of IUI: the first is carried out using semen from a partner or equivalent (AIH) and the second uses semen from a donor (AID or DI).
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
This process involves the fertilization of an ovum using a spermatozoid outside of the woman’s body. Two gametes are obtained from the couple (ova and sperm) and are united before being inserted into the woman’s uterus or Fallopian tubes.
Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)
This procedure involves the injection of one sperm into an ovum. Suitable sperm are selected and then one is injected into each of the several ova that have been collected. This is the last resort when other fertility treatments have failed.
