Dentistry is a branch of medicine that specializes in diagnosing, treating and preventing diseases related to the teeth and gums.
Aesthetic and cosmetic dentistry
- Cosmetic dental veneers: fine strips of porcelain or other composites that are stuck to the front of the teeth, covering any surface staining without needing to be filed like other covers.
- Whitening: making the color of the teeth lighter with the use of chemical agents (usually oxidizing gels) which are applied to the tooth surface, without affecting the gums.
Surgery
Oral and maxillofacial surgery specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases and lesions that affect the function and appearance of the gums, teeth, maxilla and face.
Implants These are artificial titanium roots, placed in the maxilla or jaw bone by way of a minor surgical process. Dentures can be inserted once the implants are in place.
